Urban innovator, architect of peace and interdisciplinary artist Mateja Rot builds solutions for global communities and improves the livelihood of spaces through artistic and architectural interventions and urban games. She works at the intersection of community activism, urban design, sustainable architecture, environmental arts and technology and advocates user related solutions that enable environmentally friendly living. She is very passionate about creative transformations of spaces and community-driven innovation. Mateja’s mission is to inspire global communities and empower them to take action by provoking new developments through creative interventions in spaces.

She was selected artist within Open Access - Experimenting with performing arts and transmedia in 2019-2020, a collaboration with MA avec Granit France, ColectivA Romania, DuplaCena - Festival Temps d’Images Portugal and National Theatre Wales UK. In 2018 she completed international summer school in sustainable and social architecture at ESAP Porto and Critical Concrete where she worked on research on and building with natural materials experiments with mycelium insulation and biodynamic bricks. In June 2019 she was Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Brighton - Center for Digital Media Cultures, UK (hosted by Radical Futures), conducting research on serious games for urban planning and VR/AR innovation. She is Rotary Peace Fellow, CEC Artslink International Fellow 2022 and IWF Fellow 2021-2022. Mateja’s recent urban game  PLAY:CES was featured at Fusion – Urban Games Festival Matera 2019.
